UK consumers are keen on mobile vouchers

Advertising and marketing website BrandRepublic has just published the results of a new survey from Lightspeed Research about mobile location services and voucher applications.

It contacted 1,001 UK smartphone owners and found that around a fifth had downloaded a voucher application to their phone. Conversely, over a quarter (28%) had never heard of this kind of app. 59% of respondents who'd downloaded a voucher app actually used one of the vouchers they received.

Most respondents said they'd like to receive vouchers and discount offers on their mobile phones, although users aged over 55 were less enthusiastic. However, only 19% of respondents were happy to receive other marketing messages. Over two-thirds of respondents said companies should only send marketing messages if recipients had agreed to receiving them.
