Solar-powered Android handset announced at Mobile World Congress

Solar technology company Intivation, which is based in Amsterdam, has revealed the Umeox Apollo mobile phone this week. It’s an Android smartphone with an embedded solar charger offering extended battery life. The phone will be produced by Chinese manufacturer Umeox.

With a 3.2-inch capacitive screen and a 100g weight, the Umeox Apollo is a mid-sized device in a rugged casing. Intivation’s technology has already been used in a number of other phones including handsets from Umeox, ZTE and Vodafone.
