Layar Augmented Reality browser now available on Symbian mobile phones

The Layar mobile augmented reality browser is now available for a number of Symbian S60 and Symbian^3 handsets. It overlays online digital content on top of a ‘real world’ image from the phone’s camera.

Users with the Nokia N8, Nokia C7, Nokia C6-01, Nokia E7, Nokia N97 and N97 mini devices can download the Layar Reality Browser from the Ovi store. It’s not available on all handsets as it requires built-in GPS, a front-facing camera, compass and accelerometer.

Raimo Van Der Klein, CEO and co-founder of Layar, said “Layar’s goal is to continue to bring the AR experience into people’s every day lives. By working with one of the largest smartphone manufacturers in the world, we are able to bring augmented reality to millions of Nokia users worldwide.”
