Sales up as Google announces quarterly results

Google has announced financial results for the first three months of this year. Revenue was up 27% on the same quarter in 2010, reaching $8.58 billion (£5.25 billion).

In the UK, revenues reached $969 million; 11% of total quarterly revenue.

Patrick Pichette, CFO of Google, said “We had a great quarter with 27% year-over-year revenue growth. These results demonstrate the value of search and search ads to our users and customers, as well as the extraordinary potential of areas like display and mobile. It's clear that our past investments have been crucial to our success today - which is why we continue to invest for the long term.”
