Global Mobile Awards 2012: the winners

As we mentioned in today’s podcast, the winners of the 17th Annual Global Mobile Awards were revealed last night. Comedian and songwriter Tim Minchin presented the awards and was joined on stage by Cherie Blair, champion of the GSMA’s mWomen programme.

Winners included:

Best Mobile App for Consumers: Angry Birds Rio from Rovio Entertainment

Best Mobile App for Enterprise: Citrix Receiver

Best Overall Mobile App: WhatsApp (cross-platform messaging)

Most Innovative Mobile App: SwiftKey (Android keyboard)

Best Consumer Mobile Service: Google Maps for Android

Best Smartphone: Samsung Galaxy S II

Best Feature Phone or Entry Level Phone: Nokia C3-00

Device Manufacturer of the Year: Samsung

Best Mobile Tablet: Apple iPad 2

Mobile World Congress 2012
