Inq shows off its new social media app

Inq, the Hutchison Whampoa subsidiary that started life five years ago as a mobile phone manufacturer before changing its focus to mobile software, has released the beta version of its new Material application.

Material is described as a ‘content discovery service’ that creates a twice-daily electronic magazine from information from the user’s Twitter and Facebook feeds.

In a blog post, the company said “We’ve launched the service as a BETA because this really is a work in progress; at Inq we think of development as a constant evolution rather than a sprint to an end product. We’ve got a roadmap of ideas and upgrades we want to add to the BETA over the coming months but we also need your help to make MATERIAL better.”

At the moment Material is just available for Android smartphones.
