Mozilla says Firefox phones will be coming from Alcatel, LG and ZTE

Alcatel has already declared that its new One Touch Fire is the world’s first smartphone running Moxilla’s Firefox OS - but Mozilla says it’s also working with LG and ZTE to build the first Firefox OS devices… and notes that Huawei will follow later in the year.

These first-generation Firefox smartphones are expected to launch in Brazil, Colombia, Hungary, Mexico, Montenegro, Poland, Serbia, Spain and Venezuela. Seventeen mobile operators have already committed to the platform.

Gary Kovacs, Mozilla’s CEO, said “Firefox OS brings the freedom and unbounded innovation of the open Web to mobile users everywhere,” said . “With the support of our vibrant community and dedicated partners, our goal is to level the playing field and usher in an explosion of content and services that will meet the diverse needs of the next two billion people online.”
