Facebook says 30% of its advertising revenue now comes from mobile traffic

Facebook has reported financial results for the first quarter of 2013.

The total number of monthly active users increased by 23% year-on-year to 1.11 billion people, while mobile monthly active users were up 54% year-on-year to 751 million.

On average, 665 million people used Facebook each day during March 2013.

Revenue for Q1 2013 was up 38% year-on-year to $1.46 billion (£936 million), while net income was up 7% to $219 million (£141 million).

Around 85% of revenue came from advertising, with mobile ad revenue representing approximately 30% of the $1.25 billion total.

Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s founder and CEO, said “We’ve made a lot of progress in the first few months of the year. We have seen strong growth and engagement across our community and launched several exciting products.”
