Samsung wins legal case banning the import of older iPhones and iPads

The United States International Trade Commission has ruled in favour of a Samsung complaint about one of its 3G patents, banning older Apple iPhones (anything before the iPhone 4S) and older iPads (first and second-generation models) from being imported into the USA and sold there. Newer devices aren’t affected. This decision only affects the versions sold by AT&T but could be used to ban similar products on other networks.

The ITC ruling will come into force after 60 days unless the US president overrules it. Apple is reported to be making a legal appeal.
