Plenty of mobile industry April Fool jokes

Yesterday was April 1st, a traditional time for playing tricks. Here at The Fonecast we entered into the spirit of the day with a spoof feature about ‘Lirpa Mobile’, a new advertising-funded mobile network that played commercials instead of ringtones.

Other gems from the mobile industry yesterday included the Symbian toaster, the split-screen Vodafone/O2 handset, Google Brain Search for Mobile, Qualcomm’s convergence plans, the Android-powered car, Opera’s facial expression controlled browser, the safety-conscious TXT’N’WALK feature, the Nokia 5800 Sauna Edition and the Palm PomeGranate phone. But not pigeons smuggling mobile phones into a Brazilian prison. That story is true, apparently.
