Smuggled mobile in prison led to murder

Patrick Albert Byers Jr has been found guilty of ordering the murder of Carl Lackl two years ago by sending a text message from a Baltimore jail. Although Patrick Byers was a prisoner at the time, he used a smuggled mobile phone to send a text message to Frank Goodman, who he’d previously met in jail. Goodwin then arranged for Mr Lackl to be killed. Carl Lackl was apparently targeted because he’d witnessed Patrick Byers holding a gun and running from a murder scene; he was killed a week before the murder trial was due to start.
