Challenge to Vodafone’s South African takeover

Vodafone’s plans to take control of Vodacom, its 50/50 South African partnership with state-controlled Telkom SA, is facing a legal challenge. The South African government agreed last year to sell an extra 15% to Vodafone, but the Communication Workers Union is going to court on Tuesday in an attempt to block the deal. It’s unhappy that control is being given to a foreign company. [Source: FT.com; TheTimes.co.za]
