Mobile messaging revenue to fall despite increasing usage

Juniper Research says revenue from person-to-person mobile messaging will fall in Western and Eastern Europe over the next few years, although the volume of SMS, MMS, mobile email and IM traffic will continue to rise. It says the introduction of ‘unlimited’ data and messaging allowances will cause the fall in European revenue but this will be partially balanced by revenue increases elsewhere in the world. Overall, global revenue from person-to-person mobile messaging will drop 3% to $106 billion (around £73 billion) by 2014. [Press release]
