Sony Ericsson to drop Walkman and Cyber-shot mobile brands

Sony Ericsson intends to drop the Walkman and Cyber-shot brands on its mobile phones in the UK and other developed markets, according to a report on Brand Republic. It says the company’s new ‘Entertainment Unlimited’ proposition – which was introduced earlier this year - will take the place of the separate music and photo brands. However, the forthcoming launches of the Sony Ericsson W205 Walkman and the W995 Walkman phones won’t be affected.

Sony Ericsson says the Brand Republic report isn't quite right. According to Mobile News, the 'Entertainment Unlimited' brand will be used for flagship devices while Cybershot and Walkman will remain for prepay phones. www.mobilenewscwp.co.uk/News/254842/walkman_and_cybershot_to_stay.html
