New Motorola Bluetooth headset uses bone conduction

Motorola has announced the Endeavor HX1 Bluetooth headset, which combines Motorola’s existing CrystalTalk noise cancellation technology with a ‘stealth mode’ that uses bone conduction to remove extreme noise and wind sounds. (No, I’m not sure why it’s ‘stealth mode’ when you’re talking in extreme conditions). Anyway, Motorola tells us the Endeavor is the only Bluetooth headset to use true bone conduction technology and says it can also deliver ‘a revolutionary premium headset experience’, whatever that is.

Joking apart, the idea of using vibrations instead of a conventional microphone is pretty clever. The HX1 will launch in Asia next month, although there’s no indication whether this’ll ever make it to the UK. [Press release]
