Vodafone and O2 network-sharing deal ‘goes live’

The network infrastructure sharing agreement between O2 and Vodafone now has its first shared cellsite. The deal, which was announced in March, has helped Vodafone improve network coverage on the M4 motorway by adding equipment to an existing O2 site. Vodafone says it’ll also be able to remove a neighbouring site in the near future. The whole process from planning to implementation took just 11 weeks, as opposed to nine months for a typical standalone site. [Vodafone press release]
