Almost a third of iPhones fail within two years… mainly due to accidents

US warranty company SquareTrade has published information from over 10,000 Apple iPhones with SquareTrade warranties. It’s calculated that an iPhone owner has a projected 33% chance of their iPhone ‘dying’ within the first two years of ownership, with accidents – mainly drops and falls – accounting for the majority of these failures

Despite these problems, SquareTrade says the iPhone has a better failure rate from normal use when compared to the BlackBerry and Treo. [Press release via BusinessWire; full study]
