Carphone Warehouse considering move into TV?

The Carphone Warehouse's TalkTalk business is apparently thinking about becoming a TV company, according to a report on FT.com. The company recently completed a deal to buy Tiscali's UK business for £236 million. Its assets included Tiscali TV, a video-on-demand and Freeview service with 50,000 customers. No final decision has been made about the future of the television service, although CEO Charles Dunstone has said he’s considering participating in the BBC’s potential ‘project Canvas’, which would deliver video-on-demand and Freeview through a broadband connection.

From Ovum: "In acquiring Tiscali, Carphone Warehouse has bought itself a technically good IPTV platform. If Carphone Warehouse was ever to move into IPTV this would provide an excellent platform from which to do so."
