Vodafone Ireland takes over BT’s fixed-line broadband consumers

BT Ireland has agreed to transfer its consumer and small business broadband customers to Vodafone Ireland, subject to approval by the competition authority. As part of the deal, BT will provide wholesale fixed-line service to Vodafone for the next seven years.

The agreement covers 84,000 customers and 3,000 small businesses – and will make Vodafone the country’s second-largest fixed-line broadband provider. BT says it’s now going to focus on providing IT services to larger organisations. [Sources: thinkbroadband.com; RTE.ie]
