Skype to be sold by eBay

A majority share in VoIP service Skype is being sold by its owner, auction website eBay. 65% of Skype is being sold to an investment group for $1.9 billion; the group is led by Silver Lake, Index Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board. Index Ventures is one of Skype’s original investors, while Andreessen Horowitz is a new venture capital firm led by Netscape founder Marc Andreessen and his investment partner Ben Horowitz.
