Mobile M2M equipment shipments up 16% on last year

ABI Research says the mobile M2M (machine to machine) market has started to pick up again. Shipments increased on average more than 25% per year for the five years from 2003, with module shipment growth peaking at 45% in 2007. However, the global economic situation resulted in a mere 4% shipment growth in 2008 – and an overall drop in revenue due to falling prices. ABI Research now forecasts that 2009 will see unit shipments about 16% higher than in 2008 and revenue up 10%. [Press release]
