Motorola Droid intrigues the US - but no UK launch date yet

The Motorola Droid (originally referred to as the Scholes and Tao) is due for release on the Verizon network in the USA next month, although there’s no UK date on the calendar. It’s Android powered and, like the original G1, apparently has a design that’s been strongly influenced by Google. Watch out for a slide-out QWERTY keypad, Android version 2.0 and above-average build quality. [Source: BoyGeniusReport.com]

Incidentally, not only has the word 'Droid' been officially licensed from Lucasfilm but it also looks as though technology news site InfoWorld.com inadvertently christened this smartphone over a year ago in an article from October 2008 that referred to Motorola’s Moto-droid.
