UK phone payment service complaints are down

PhonepayPlus, the UK's phone-paid services regulator, has announced a 62% decrease in complaints about mobile phone-paid services during the last fifteen months. In July 2008 there were 1,981 complaints; last month there were just 746.

The news comes as the EU published an update from its 2008 investigation into websites providing ringtones and wallpaper images for mobile phones. Initial reports had suggested that 39 out of 43 UK websites were potentially in breach of EU consumer rules. However just 12 turned out to be breaking the law; 10 of these cases have now been resolved. [EU press release; PhonepayPlus]
