Vodafone offers 'priority' data access for a higher price

Vodafone Spain has launched a tariff that lets customers pay a higher rate for a data speed that's guaranteed to be the maximum available.

Until now, the company has reduced mobile data speeds for all users if they exceed their flat-rate monthly allowance or if the network is congested. However, it has now introduced a new data traffic management system.

Vodafone says the new system will benefit all customers; not only will there be a new 'guaranteed maximum' tariff with a higher limit but customers who exceed their existing flat-rate deals will now only have their data speeds reduced if there is network congestion.

The new Spanish Calidad Oro ('Gold Quality') tariff is €49 per month. [Sources: TimesOnline.co.uk; Vodafone Spain press release]
