O2 promises targeted advertising for UK customers

O2 has launched a new service that'll let advertisers send targeted messages to mobile phone users in the UK. It's called O2 More and already has 50 brands signed up, including Adidas, Cadbury, Interflora and Blockbuster.

O2 More is an opt-in programme for O2 customers who register online at www.o2.co.uk/o2more. The information they provide is then matched with usage and location data from O2, giving advertisers in-depth knowledge of the people they're contacting.

It's all been created by O2's Media business, which is run by Shaun Gregory – the man formerly at the helm of UK ad-funded MVNO Blyk.
