New 'App Shop' launched on Orange mobile phones

The Orange App Shop has been launched today, giving Orange customers the ability to download applications directly to their mobile phones. Launching initially in the UK and France, the Orange App Shop will be rolled out in other countries during 2010.

Purchases via the app store can be added to the customer's Orange mobile bill. The service works across multiple platforms including Java, Android, Blackberry, Symbian and Windows Mobile –and it'll be pre-loaded on certain Orange devices including the Nokia 6700 and the Sony Ericsson W995 from January. There'll also be an over-the-air update this month for a number of other customers with Orange 'signature' mobile phones.
