Mobile networks get a different kind of ’Friday feeling’

While many people may start to relax when they get a 'Friday Feeling' at the end of the working week, it's the busiest time for mobile phone networks. New research from Orange has revealed that the top time for Brits to chat is 4.30pm on a Friday. A survey of the Orange UK network in October revealed that nearly six million people are on the phone at 4.30pm on Fridays. Conversely, Sundays are particularly quiet – and the quietest weekday is a Tuesday.

Behavioural expert Judi James (who you may recognise from Channel 4's 'Big Brother') says "Friday is the transitional day of the week in terms of behaviour and communication. It’s when we’re at our most extrovert and communicative, finishing off our workload as effectively as possible but still buzzing with adrenaline-powered energy in anticipation of the weekend. It’s also the time of the pure hunter/gatherer mentality, where we either celebrate the ‘kill’ in terms of boasting about achievements of the job and sharing the news of our successes, or commiserating about any difficulties experienced at work during the week".
