Bluetooth announces low-energy version 4.0

The Bluetooth Special Interest Group – the group of companies that develops Bluetooth specifications – has just adopted version 4.0 of the wireless technology. Bluetooth Core Specification Version 4.0 offers a new low-energy version of Bluetooth technology, which makes it more practical to include Bluetooth in smaller battery-powered devices such as pedometers, sensors and key fobs. The first products that take advantage of Bluetooth low energy wireless technology are expected by summer 2010. [Bluetooth blog]
