Internet-connected mobiles predicted to overtake PCs in 3 years

I.T. research company Gartner says mobile phones will have overtaken PCs as the world's most common web access device by 2013. It's published a new report, Top Predictions for IT Organizations and Users, calculating there'll be 1.78 billion PCs but 1.82 billion internet-enabled mobile phones in 2013. And by 2014 it says there'll be a 90% mobile penetration rate worldwide, with 6.5 billion mobile connections. Gartner also reckons that the majority of the world's adult population will be able to transact electronically via mobile or internet technology by 2014.
