Court of Appeal rules against UK mobile termination rate cut

The Court of Appeal has said a Competition Appeal Tribunal decision to cut mobile termination rates in the UK was inappropriate. Last year the CAT ordered Ofcom to retrospectively reduce MTRs, which would have left UK mobile networks owing BT millions of pounds.

The CAT’s judgment was appealed by T-Mobile, Vodafone, Orange and O2 on the grounds that the CAT did not have the power to direct Ofcom to reset the charges for 2007/8 and 2008/9. [Source: Bloomberg.com]
