Mobile banking usage will double in the next three years

A new study from Juniper Research says the number of mobile phone customers who use their phones for mobile banking will exceed 400 million by 2013. That's double the number of worldwide users this year.

The report says over 80% of banks currently offer some form of mobile banking – from SMS text alerts to downloadable apps – and anticipates the Far East and China being the region with the highest number of users in 2015.

Earlier this year, ABI Research anticipated 407 million people worldwide carrying out banking transactions on their mobiles in 2015, while Berg Insight expected the number of mobile banking users to reach 894 million users in 2015.
