App store software company Cellmania bought by Research In Motion

Cellmania, which described itself as “the leading provider of wireless search, provisioning and billing solutions to wireless operators”, has been bought by Research In Motion. It appears likely that Cellmania’s expertise will be used for BlackBerry App World, the RIM application store.

Neither company has given much additional information; in a statement on its website California-based Cellmania said “our team has joined RIM’s global organisation and will continue to bring our expertise in Application Storefront development to the BlackBerry platform”.
