Clear Mobitel is awarded a licence to run LTE services in Jersey

Clear Mobitel has been granted a license by Ofcom to operate '4G' Long Term Evolution technology in Jersey. It allows Clear Mobitel to use the 2600MHz band for providing high-speed mobile broadband services.

Andrew Elston, Regulatory Affairs Director at Clear Mobitel, said "Clear Mobitel (Jersey) Ltd has already made multi-million pound investments in the smart technologies that are at the very heart of advanced services that will be delivered by the Jersey 4G LTE network. We have been consistent in our view that since the award of our license by the JCRA [Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority] last year that delivering such an advanced, separated network in Jersey would deliver strong new competition to the existing market, in terms of overall retail pricing and services innovation. This announcement, together with the turn up of our multi-million pound off-islands ultra high speed data network core to provide global connectivity to customers, is good news for Jersey in terms of enhancing the economic opportunity for everyone at a time when jobs and incomes are in sharp focus."

Clear Mobitel says it'll start trialling 4G LTE devices later this year.
