Free Windows Phone 7 applications for LG owners

LGLG Electronics and Microsoft have announced a deal that'll give LG customers a selection of free applications for their Windows Phone 7 handsets. (That's currently just the Optimus 7 on Vodafone in the UK).

Ten free applications worth over $30 (i.e. around £1.85 each) will be given away every 60 days. These apps will be available from the LG Application Store on LG Windows Phone 7 devices.

LG will also be offering support to selected Windows Phone application developers who want to promote their applications with LG.

Chang Ma, vice president of the Mobile Communications Marketing Strategy Team at LG, said "When we pledged early last year to support Microsoft’s smartphone strategy, we knew we were making a decision that had the potential to generate ripples in the ecosystem. Microsoft’s commitment to the developer community is well known and respected in the industry, and we look forward to seeing this partnership with Microsoft lead to greater things."
