Almost 1 in 5 of UK consumers will shop on their mobile phones this Christmas

Research from social and search agency Tamar suggests that 19% of UK consumers will use mobile devices to shop at Christmas this year.

Tamar's Christmas Online Retail 2010 study showed that 29% of adults aged 25 to 34 would buy via a mobile device over the Christmas period. The figure was lower for older and younger shoppers, with security and the complexity of payments being highlighted as obstacles.

Tamar has calculated that 56% of top online UK retailers are currently ‘mobile ready’ with either a mobile app or a mobile website. Amazon stood out by having both.

When it comes to online shopping generally, 45% of people polled said they intended to buy more Christmas goods online compared to last year.
