giffgaff experiments with offering credit for received calls

Member-supported UK virtual network giffgaff has introduced an experimental tariff that rewards users with a minute’s credit for every 60-seconds of received calls. It’s called Hokey Cokey and costs £5 per month for 60 minutes of UK calls plus 300 texts to UK mobiles.

The tariff option will be available until the end of February 2011 and may become a permanent choice if it’s sufficiently popular.

It’s a similar concept to Three’s WePay tariff, which was introduced in 2006 and is now only available to customers who joined before October 2007.
