Vodafone expands its money transfer service and plans to cover Asia, Africa and the Middle East

Vodafone has rolled its mobile money transfer service into Qatar and the Philippines, with plans to cover Asia, Africa and the Middle East. The service was launched in Kenya as M-PESA and is already available in several other countries, with 20 million people using it globally.

Many of Qatar’s residents are expatriates; around 200,000 come from the Philippines. Vodafone’s service will enable these people to send money ‘home’ to friends and relatives.

Customers who register for a Vodafone Money Transfer account can add money at Vodafone stores or bank branches before transferring it to other users.
