Google launches eBook shop on desktop, laptop and mobile

Google has turned the Google Books service – launched in 2004 as a way of indexing your own library of books – into a fully-fledged eBookstore. Google eBooks can be read on a wide variety of devices, including laptops, smartphones and dedicated eReaders. There are applications for Android and Apple devices as well.
