UK iPhone users spend £1 million on pizza in three months

The UK and Ireland business of Domino’s Pizza released its latest figures on Wednesday – and there’s a mobile-related figure that’s captured a lot of attention.

Annual sales increased by 19.2% year-on-year to £485.3 million, with 57 new stores opening. E-commerce sales were £128.0 million, up 63% from 2009, and now account for over 35% of UK deliveries.

In September 2010, Domino’s Pizza launched an iPhone application to complement its web site. Since then, over £1 million of sales in the UK have been taken through the iPhone app. An ordering app for Android phones is expected soon.

Domino’s recently celebrated 25 years of business in the UK and 50 years of trading worldwide; it’s offered UK online ordering for the past 11 years.
