LinkedIn acquires business card app CardMunch and sets it free

Online professional network LinkedIn has acquired CardMunch, a young Californian company with an app to convert business cards into electronic contacts. CardMunch had previously sold its iPhone app via the Apple App Store; a BlackBerry app is in development.

As part of the acquisition, the current version of the CardMunch app has become a free service, enabling users to capture and transcribe as many business cards as they want.
