Windows Phone 7 phantom data culprit confirmed as Yahoo! Mail

Microsoft has confirmed that the phantom data problem affecting a small percentage of Windows Phone 7 customers is being caused by Yahoo! Mail. The company, which recommends adjusting email settings on the phone to reduce the amount of data used, says a Microsoft/Yahoo fix will be rolled out in the coming weeks.

Yahoo! Mail was named as the culprit by the Windows Phone Secrets blog yesterday; Microsoft later confirmed these findings.
