First software update for Windows Phone is released

Microsoft has released the first update for its Windows Phone platform. However, this isn’t adding the much-anticipated ‘copy and paste’ feature but is a smaller update designed to improve the software update process itself.

The update needs to be installed by connecting the handset to a PC or Mac.

It's not gone quite as smoothly as Microsoft might have hoped: there's "a technical issue with the Windows Phone update process that impacts a small number of Samsung phones" that's resulted in Microsoft temporarily suspending updates to Samsung phones.
