RIM unveils first devices running BlackBerry 7 OS

RIM has used the first day of the BlackBerry World 2011 event to announce two new BlackBerry Bold smartphones: the Bold 9900 and Bold 9930. They’re the first touch-screen BlackBerry Bold models and are also the first to run the BlackBerry 7 operating system. Both will be available from the summer.

Both devices have a 2.8-inch screen, a 1.2GHz processor and a 5 megapixel camera. Other features supported by the BlackBerry 7 OS include ‘Liquid Graphics’ for smooth on-screen images, support for NFC and Augmented Reality, plus 720p HD video recording.

Other news from BlackBerry World included BlackBerry Balance, which will allow a BlackBerry smartphone to be used for both work and personal purposes without compromising security or privacy.
