Google Labs to close

In a blog post entitled ‘More wood behind fewer arrows’, Google has said it's going to close its Google Labs project.

Google Labs developed a variety of prototype desktop and mobile products in an environment the company called its ‘playground’. The new move will see some Labs experiments ended while others will be incorporated into different product areas. In-product experimentation channels, including Gmail Labs and or Maps Labs, won’t be affected.

Android products developed by the Google Labs engineers include App Inventor for Android, Google Goggles, Sky Map and Shopper. It’s not yet known how many of the Labs-developed Android products will remain available.
