BRIT Awards introduce voting via mobile app from Noise Inc

Digital development company Noise Inc. has developed an iPhone app that will allow fans to vote in the BRIT Awards 2012. The agency has worked with MasterCard to create the first-ever application that allows fans to vote via their mobile phones.

Nominees for this year’s BRIT Awards will be announced next week on Thursday 12th January. The BRIT Awards 2012 with MasterCard iPhone app will be available free from Apple’s App Store on the same day. As well as allowing voting in the Best British Single, Best British Group and Best British Breakthrough categories, the app will also feature news and competitions. In addition, music fans will be able to buy and download audio from the night of the Awards.

Noise Inc. created this app in just a month to meet the Nominations announcement deadline. It’s worked closely with the BPI, MasterCard and The BRIT Awards to develop the iPhone application.

Shaun Springer, Head of Brand and Sponsorship at MasterCard UK & Ireland, said, “At MasterCard, we’re always looking for innovative new ways to enable Priceless experiences for fans. This is a great opportunity for us to work with our long-standing partners at The BRITs to drive MasterCard’s social media platform and deepen our engagement with music. We’re excited to be involved in this ‘first’ for The BRITs in 2012 and looking forward to unveiling a new competition to capture the imagination of the nation, which will be available through the new app.”

The BRIT (British Record Industry Trust) Awards is organised by the BPI, the British recorded music industry association. This year’s show will be the 32nd BRIT Awards. The event has raised more than £13million for The BRIT Trust charity, which benefits the BRIT School for Performing Arts & Technology, Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy and a number of other charities.
