London tech start-up job fair offers 3,000 free tickets across two-day event

Tech start-up job fair Silicon Milkroundabout is offering candidates 1,500 free tickets to each of its two days this year. Saturday 26th May is for Product Management and Design, while Sunday 27th is Engineering day.

The event launched in May 2011 and was followed by a second fair held in October. A total of 1,876 jobseekers attended and 168 jobs were filled.

This year, more than 100 start-up businesses will be offering over 800 jobs.

Pete Smith and Ian Hogarth, co-founders of concert alerts service Songkick, created Silicon Milkroundabout last year. Pete Smith said “We booked out a bar in east London on a Sunday afternoon, filled it with 45 friends also running start-ups, and put the word out. We hoped that 100 software engineers would turn up. 500 did. That’s when we knew we were on to something, and the October event attracted nearly 1,500 attendees.”

Silicon Milkroundabout will take place on 26th/27th May 2012 in the Old Truman Brewery warehouse on Brick Lane, London.
