Push-to-Talk increases reach in USA

Or, as the original press release headline puts it: Push-to-Talk Will Reach 8.5% Penetration in North American Mobile Market; But Where’s the Rest of the World?

Push to Talk (PTT), which lets mobile phone users connect instantly in the style of a walkie-talkie, will reach 8.5% of the North American market by the end of 2013, according to ABI Research. However, it’s not been anything like as popular elsewhere in the world. The reason, according to ABI, is that operators outside the USA haven’t emphasised its business benefits. Incidentally, it’s now five years since PTT phones started arriving in the UK. [Press release]
