BlackBerry receives an order for one million devices

Following the recent launch of the BlackBerry 10 platform and the Z10 smartphone, the company has recently received its largest-ever purchase order: one million BlackBerry devices.

It’s described the customer as an established partner but hasn’t given any more details about the deal or the products involved, although the purchaser could well be the US government.

Rick Costanzo, Executive Vice President for Global Sales at BlackBerry, said “An order for one million devices is a tremendous vote of confidence in BlackBerry 10. Consumers are ready for a new user experience, and BlackBerry 10 delivers. With strong partner support, coupled with this truly re-invented new platform, we have a powerful recipe for success.”
