Samsung to discontinue its ChatON mobile messaging service in 2015

It’s reported that Samsung Electronics is closing down its free ChatON mobile messaging service next year.

ChatON was launched in 2011, enabling users to communicate using text, images, handwritten notes and video. The cross-platform app had attracted 100 million users by last year - and passed 200 million users in April this year.

According to the Yonhap News Agency and the Wall Street Journal, ChatON will close on 1st February 2015. Users will be able to download and store their chat records before the service closes.
