Panasonic announces Android device with 1-inch 20 megapixel camera sensor

Panasonic has used the Photokina photography trade show in Germany as a stage to announce its new Panasonic DMC-CM1 device.

It’s equipped with a 20 megapixel one-inch camera sensor, putting it on a similar level to standalone cameras, yet also runs Android 4.4 on a 2.3GHz quad-core chip and has a 4.7-inch HD screen.

Nokia Networks to buy Panasonic's mobile base station business

Nokia Networks - formerly known as NSN - has agreed to acquire Panasonic’s 3G and LTE base station system business.

The deal is expected to be finalised next month.

Panasonic and Sharp both forecast annual losses

Panasonic Corporation has reported quarterly and half-year results, with sales down and losses growing despite an increase in operating profit.

Consolidated group sales for the second quarter decreased by 12% year-on-year to 1,823.7 billion yen and the net loss was 698 billion yen compared with a 105.8 billion yen loss in the same quarter a year ago.
